Which of the following sentences is acceptable?

1. They have stopped being friends since the fight last year.
2. They have not been friends since the fight last year.
3. They are no more friends since the fight last year.

Which of the following sentences is acceptable?

1. They have stopped being friends since the fight last year.
2. They have not been friends since the fight last year.
3. They are no more friends since the fight last year.

Both #1 and #2 are possible. #1 suggests the friendship stopped sometime between the fight and now. #2 suggests that the friendship stopped as soon as the fight had taken place.
