***When she blurted that hearing about the threat of mad-cow disease "just stopped me cold from eating another burger", her friends all follow her.***

1) What does it mean of:

a) stopped me cold from eating another burger

b) blurted

2) Is there an adjective to describe one who talks freely of whatever s/he is thinking of without considering the consequence of her speech where people around always feel offensive, even though s/he doesn't mean to hurt, harm or insult anyone?

Thanks.

1) to "stop cold" means to stop suddenly and for good.
to "blurt" is to utter abruptly and impulsively (it just comes out)

2) either callous or capricious might work well for you.
