What are the differences between a stormwater pond, a stormwater basin, and a stormwater tank? What word could be used to describe all these types?
Could "road runoff" be used for stormwater (from roads)?
What is the difference between a retention basin and a detention basin?
These all look like technical terms in road-building/flood management. It would help to have more context for them.
A stormwater pond is usually a depression in the ground which will take excess water from the land.
Both tanks and basins are probably deeper and more constructed, possibly with concrete sides and bottom.
"Road runoff" is the water that drains off the road.
A detention basin is much the same as a stormwater pond, holding water for a short time, whereas a retention basin holds water for a longer period.
