I have a class of 14-year-old ones who have difficulty learning English. They didn't learn much during their first and second class ( Dutch system). Do you have any idea how I can help them?

Re: Difficult learning pupils

Have you identified the reasons for the lack of success over the last two years?

Re: Difficult learning pupils

By a few of them , I guess, it is the fact that they have quite a low IQ. Still I think it is possible to reach quite much when regarding Speaking skills. Unfortunately, they can't make one sentence in English without any mistakes. Others have learnt only words and Reading texts. Nothing else. After so many hours of studying they can't say "She goes to work..... He walks etc."

I really don't know what to do. The Dutch system is also wrong as they have to translate non-stop.....

Re: Difficult learning pupils

Is the management aware of this or are they expecting them to reach the standards required for this year?

I have mentioned it quite a lot of times, but nothing so far. Next week we have a meeting and I will explain that this is not working. There are requirments and some pupils may have to leave this level ( also because of unsufficient mark in my subject) if they have too many bad marks. It is not their fault and I am struggling....:-(

actually i think the best way for learning childrens english language is to make them do something fun ,like collecting easy english words buzzle, speaking easy language with each other and so on..... i can see teachers do something like that in the british councils

I am one of the new students. I have been looking for a long time now. How can I learn Engish? Is there anyone here who can help me?
First, don't capitalize every single word. Capitalize words at the beginning of sentences and proper nouns.

I have heard that IQ is not the reason of the students failure particullary if they are in elementary stage.
