I feel calmed and relieved when my husband, Steve, knocks at my study door in the middle of a fight, put his arms around me, and says, “I love you. This is stupid. Let’s just drop it.”

Will you tell me what is meant by study door, please? After looking up in dictionary, I just came across study room.

The 'study door' (both nouns) is the door to the study. I have never met 'study room', but that dictionary definition seems to refer to a room in a school - the sort of school I have no experience of - in which several people can study (verb).

In the US, a study is a separate room, somewhat like a library, in a home. A study will usually only be found in larger homes.

Here too. Mine is more of a broom-cupboard, though the estate agent when we bought it called it a 'fourth bedroom'. ;-)
