Are these sentences correct?

I have found this in a website and I am also asking for reconfirmatiom.

Bananas plus water results in faster weight loss.

Laying off exercise and allowing afternoon sweets reduces stress.

Should I use singular or plural verbs?

Is it right to use "result" or "results", "reduces" or "reduce"?

Notwithstanding the fact that the "advice" in both of those sentences is absolute nonsense, grammatically I would use:

1. Bananas plus water results in ...
2. Laying off exercise and allowing afternoon sweets reduces ...

In the first, it's the same construction we use when we say a maths equation out loud - "Five plus two makes seven".
In the second, I read it as saying "Doing the following things (exercise/sweets) reduces ...".
