Hello,

I have a problem.

If 'such a' is usually: such a + adjective + single countable noun

Why do we say: It was such a shock?

Is 'shock' regarded as an adjective or a consequence?

Thank You

Such is interchangeable with so great here.

He received such a shock that he won't even talk about it.
His shock at the grisly sight was such that he won't even talk about it
.

Hope it helped.

Yes, thank you.

I can now look at it from a different perspective.
