Hi,

Is there any word to be used instead of "sales" when talking about a graph?

(I need a noun meaning the same as "sales" in '...the amount of coffee sales in someland...')

It depends on what the graph shows. "The amount of coffee sales" could mean the number of sales, the volume of coffee sold, etc. It also depends on why "sales" isn't adequate.

The graph could be a simple one common in IELTS. It, I think mostly refers to the 'amount' of the product being sold. (Or perhaps the number of cases?!)

So, is there any option I can use for such cases?

Thanks.

If you can't describe what the graph is describing, you could post the question here. And the graph.

I wouldn't mean to bother, but if you just let me have some possible synonyms I could use for 'SALES' in the graph attached.

"The chart below shows global sales of the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013."6a0120a5bb05d8970c01b8d0cae291970c-500wi.jpg

You could use "units" or "phones" in this case.

Sales people hate using the word sales, as it has negative connotations of making people buy things they don't need/want.

In your specific example, you might turn the situation around and say something like:

"The chart below shows global purchases of the top five mobile phone brands between 2009 and 2013."

Now we no longer have pushy salespeople, we have eager buyers!
