I am a greenhand in English ( English is the second language for me)...one friend asked me the questions about

=============
what's the difference of "fool", "jerk", "moron", "bastard", "asshole","idiot"
=============
i know most of them are tabooed words in English, we may say someone is a fool or jerk but would never try the rest of them...true?

my explanation was like these:

==========
Hey dummy!
An insult word meaning dumb or stupid.

That boy sure is a running fool.
A "fool" can be somebody who is considered dumb, or it can be
someone who was made to look ridiculous in a particular situation.

others, all are strongly taboo words,vulgarities....

idiot...
"Stupid is as stupid does."
An expression that became famous because of Forrest Gump movie. this is mama's way of
saying "Just because you look stupid, you're not stupid unless you do stupid things."
A great thing to say the next time your boyfriend calls you an idiot. Or maybe not.

Just a local idiot.
A funny way to say "a moron who lives around here

A government Post says:
If you (r) drunk and drive, you are Bloody Idiot!
===========
does anyone help me please?

It's just a question of degree- moron is strnger than fool. I wouldn't classify any of these wrods as taboo,but in the UK, we seem to be fairly relxaxed about words like 'bastard' (famously used by a Prime Minister about his colleagues). However, if I understand it, 'asshole'in American English is not as stroong as the British form 'arsehole', which is meant to show contempt for someone here.
