(1) A man apprehended his girl friend is gay and sought help of Agony Aunt and the following was the answer. What will "take a call" in the following sentence mean: "If she agrees she likes other women and sexually attracted to them, then you need to address your fears and take a call on your relationship. " (2) What does "no foil" mean in the following sentence: " The Chinese cannot but be aware that a weak, violence wreaked Pakistan is no foil to India".

1-- A new idiom for me, but I suppose it means to pause and consider.
2-- foil: anything that serves by contrast to call attention to another thing's good qualities.. but I think the writer of your sentence thought it means 'a worthy opponent'.
