dear teachers, please explain it 1. i take it for granted that the present question is a mere preamble. what does take it for granted that mean?

It means "I understand that..." or "I automatically assume that..."

Another example: "I take it for granted that you haven't studied English for very long."

In other words, you haven't told me that you have not studied English for very long, but I assume that to be the case.

If someone is "taken for granted" it means that their efforts are not acknowledged or rewarded.
