Hello. I am wondering what "take us through the eights" mean in this context below.
Does it mean, "Please help us learn eight times table in the multiplication table?"
Please help. Thank you. (The context below is from a children's novel.)

Bob was always zoning out and doodling with a superfine Sharpie.
Ms. Diamatis would say, "Bob, can you please take us through the eights?"
It was her job to make sure no one got out of fourth grade without lightning-fast multiplication skills.

Yes, I would say so. 8 times 1 is 8. 8 times 2 is 16. etc.

It's not a standard expression.
