Teaches, I think the word "technology" in the sentence is wrong, instead, we should use "technologies". Do you agree?

No, but if you use "technology" you need "A lot of technology is ..."
Perhaps the movie uses only one technology but, if it uses it throughout the film, it's possible that they use a lot of technology.

I see no reason for a plural verb there. A lot of can be used with an uncountable noun without making it plural.
