I believe the most popular baby names in the US right now are Jacob (male) and Emily (female). Generally, we don't choose names for their meaning but rather how they sound. My first name is Jamie and I never remeber what it means other than it is a feminine form of James.
Someone already mentioned popular foods here. My preferences tend to run more vegetarian than the typical American, I eat a lot of vegetables and pasta with very little meat. My favorite dish is mushroom tortellini with marinara sauce, lots of cheese and a side of garlic bread.
And while some people have pancakes for breakfast, I don't know many who do that in the morning before work or school. Usually that is for days when you have plenty of time to make them, like on the weekends. I usually don't have breakfast at all. Many Americans skip breakfast or have quick foods like cereal, toast, bagels or donuts.
I live in West Virginia, and while we get plenty or rain, it's not excessive. Our seasons can get a little mixed up though, yesterday it snowed and today it was so warm I didn't need a coat.
I've never tried to describe living in America before so I'm not really sure what else you might find interesting to know.
