I learnt that the tense in an paragraph should be the same. What if I want to tell a past event with a fact which uses present tense to describe. Like...

I had a fight with my parents for asking poket money. I was so sad but couln't do anything. Parents love their children, but my parents always yell at me.

This short paragraph used past tense plus present tense. Is it still a good paragraph? Also, in my question above, should I use "used" or "uses"? I'm always confused by them.

Don't believe that! There is no reason to limit yourself to only one tense, not even within a sentence.
