I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

The accused told the court that at the time the murder was committed he was abroad. However, the prosecutor blew his alibi with a couple of witnesses stating that they saw him in the town.

Thank you for your help. I have never before heard the word "arraignment," and it is good to know it. I should have used "defendant" instead.
