[Grammar] the beach is close/closed

Due to bad weather, the beach is close/closed.


Can both close and closed be correct? One as a verb, the other as an adjective? I don't know.

Only closed is correct. If you write close, readers will see it as the adjective meaning "nearby", pronounced like "klohss". That wouldn't make sense. :) (Note that the verb close​ also wouldn't work there.)
