Which of the above sentences is correct and natural?

I know that it's natural to say "The telephone was invented by Alexander Graham Bell." Accordingly, sentence 1 should be correct and natural, but it seems to me that sentence 2 is also correct and natural. That's why I need to seek language experts' opinions. Thank you so much.

Both are correct and natural. Number 2 is far more common in speech, but 1 might appear in writing.
