I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct.

The chef was working tirelessly, enveloped in the steam and smoke rising from the pans and pots.

For no particular reason, we always say "pots and pans".

Any reason why smoke would be rising from a pot?

It's unlikely from a pot but perfectly possible from a pan. Just ask my neighbours who set off the building's smoke alarm every time they fry something!
