I like your signature. I am an American and the US Constitution (modeled, by the way, after the British Magna carta) is our most precious document. I want you to know, however, that many non-Americans (and some Americans) fail to understand that this document governs only the relationship between the people and the federal government. It is has little to do with people to people interactions or the behavior of private (non-government) organizations. It was designed to protect citizens from an overbearing federal state (as the writers believed the monarchy in England at that time to be).
Really? But I learned from a book in which indicated that any American can express their ideas even if those're very extreme or racism in public only if they didn't commit a crime. So through it now American could be very tolerable to any kind of theories. Is it not true?
Americans are reasonably tolerant, but each person has his/her own limits. The First Amendment prohibits the government from making it a crime to express opinions, even unpopular ones. One cannot be arrested for racist speech or anti-government speech. But that only protects someone from arrest and criminal prosecution. If a teacher makes racist comments in a classroom, she/he can be fired. If an employee makes derogatory remarks about the boss, he/she can be fired. If a customer in a bar or restaurant starts using offensive speech, he/she can be barred from the premises. Students in school are not allowed to say whatever they please. The First Amendment deals only with legal and government consequences.
And I'd thought here was a virtual land too. Red5 is an administrator. Also here is a public forum? Now I'm not sure about this. If it's not I'm really sorry because I didn't have experience connect and talk with foreigners. All I know about you guys and societies are from books, which was pretty interesting for me.
This forum is public, because it is on the Internet. But it is a private enterprise, in that it has nothing to do with government. Along with membership, comes rules and responsibilities. These are set by the owners of the forum. Red and TDOL are wonderful hosts and very tolerant people. It has been their experience, and mine, that certain subjects do not work well on an English language forum. As hosts, they have asked the members to avoid those subjects that are outside the intended scope of this forum. That has nothing to do with the First Amendment.
I brought this up so that you could better understand the statement in your signature.
