I am translating the hardware specification.

I would like to know if the following sentence is correct.

The diameter of the cable shall be <#> to store at the bottom of the cradle.

The above sentence appears in the restrictions section for the cable that can be stored in the compartment at the bottom of the device. <#> is the length, in the original language, it is precisely specified, but should I put within before <#> ?

Thank you

I am translating the [STRIKE]hardware[/STRIKE] specifications for a hardware object.

I would like to know if the following sentence is correct.

The diameter of the cable shall be <#> to store at the bottom of the cradle.

The above sentence appears in the restrictions section for the cable that can be stored in the compartment at the bottom of the device. <#> is the length in the original language; it is precisely specified, but should I put "within" before <#>?

Thank you.
No. "Within" is incorrect.

Try, e.g.,
The diameter of the cable shall be 5 cm to [STRIKE]store[/STRIKE] fit in the compartment at the bottom of the cradle.

A cable up to 5cm in diameter may be stored in the compartment at the bottom of the cradle.
