Which will be the appropriate, when I happen to say, i have abandoned the things which I used in my past life but I no longer use at presen;
(1) I used to drink/ eat but now I stopped drinking.(2) I had to drink/ eat but now I stopped drinking.

Your examples aren't natural. No one stops eating and drinking. Let's use a more likely scenario.

I used to take cocaine but I have stopped taking it.
I used to eat hamburgers every day but I have stopped eating them.
