I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

The farmer and his sons managed to sink the well and dig the irrigation ditch, using just basic tools. It was an achievement for which they got praise and admiration from the whole village.

It's fine just the way it is. Some may want to replace 'got' with 'received', but why bother?

I also think "received" is better than "got". Though "got" is often used like this in common speech.

Equally, the end could be worded "... for which they were praised and admired by the whole village."
