If you mean 'The fearful things that lurk behind the beautiful scenery', you need to spell that out.

The student wrote about a trip on a mountain road that made her scared because of the steep drop into the valley below..a normal reaction for most people, I guess. Needed to verify that it doesn't make much sense on its own.....
