Does the good mean the best? Is it common expression among native English speakers? Why don’t we use Irregular Comparison?

"Good" means "good". It's the opposite of "bad". It means nothing more and nothing less.

This blanket is thick.
This is a good blanket.
This blanket is thin.
This is a bad blanket.

I imagine the best thick blankets available probably cost a lot more than $13!
