Is this a good introduction to compare the novel to the book?

The Great Gatsby signifies the roaring twenties and how life was at this time. The novel in 1974 was made into a film. The film showed the visual effects of the novel. The novel and film are similar in some ways but, are differnt in many ways.

I would say it was about the roaring twenties and life at that time. Say the novel was made into a film in 1974. The film told the story of the novel using sound and moving pictures. The novel and film are similar in some ways and different in other ways.

What did you like best about The Great Gatsby?

:)

I agree with Ron about not using the verb 'signifies'. You could use something like 'depicts' or 'portrays'. ;-)
