What is the head in the noun phrase between parentheses?
(One of the three nominees) receives the Noble Price.
PS:
we were divided into three groups today during my grammar class. The 1st group says "one" is the head but the problem that " one" is by definition can only be a premodifier. the 2nd group says that " nominees" is the head but the problem is the tense "s" of the singular. The third group is me and my teacher we said that both propositions are wrong and we don't know where is the head:-(
