I have a trouble in translating an English sentence.
Here is the sentence: "A is a retired back up singer for a 70s soul act known as the Real Deal."

I don't understand what "soul act" and "the Real Deal" mean and "for" in this sentence means working for, doesn't it?

"soul act" : "soul" in this context refers to a musical form combining gospel and rhythm and blues music; a "soul act" would be a performance of that type of music.
"Real Deal" is the name of the performing group of musicians and singers.
"for" = as you said, working for or associated with or as a member of
