The Mud Face
What I rememeber is I came to a place which must have been wet ground or maybe more likely a small round wet piece of ground like a pond of thick flowing or melting mud. A very thin layer of water gathered on the top and the liquid mud looked like fine yellow sand. I began stirring the wet ground with a stick when the liquid mud started bubbling like a boiling pot. Then the bubbles changed slowly and I could discern the outlines of a face. The face took shape but it was still faint. I coud see the eyes were clearly fixed on far as if it wanted to initiate me into a secret or a mystry. This lasted for a few minutes and then the mud face disappeared slowly and the water bubbles stopped.
The face appeared to me didn't go away from my memory so I decided to go back there in the hope of finding out more. To my surprise and horror there was no trace of water and the ground was as dry as salt as if no water had ever been there before. A line appeared on the broken surface like a piece of glass broken but not split into separate parts. I was beside myself and started asking: What happened to the water? why did it disappear so suddenly? Why did the mud face appear to me just for a moment to disappear and never come back? I was left alone.
