Round brackets are used to insert additional information in text. Question: How do we say it, what is being inserted into a bracket, in spoken English? I do mean that when I want to say it. Do I say such as, for example?

The normal thing to do in speech is to treat each of the parenthetical symbols ( and ) as commas, i.e. as slight pauses. However, the example sentence that you supplied would be more idiomatic and more intelligible if the or a was inserted before vomiting bug.
