I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct.

The village suffered frequently from heavy flooding that many believed someone had cast a spell on it.

It reads as if the heavy flooding had cast a spell on the village. You could fix this by inserting so before "frequently".

Maybe I should use "curse" instead, like this:

The villagers suffered so frequently from heavy flooding that many believed someone had put a curse on it.

That's not good.

I think that needs another rewrite. In that sentence, the only thing "it" can refer to is "heavy flooding"!

Would this version be better?

Heavy flooding hit so frequently the village that many believed someone had put a curse on it.

[STRIKE]Heavy flooding hit so frequently[/STRIKE] The village got (heavily) flooded so frequently that many believed someone had put a curse on it.
Try that.

This would be okay if you put the adverbial phrase after the noun.

GoesStation,
Do you mean like this:

Heavy flooding hit the village so frequently that many believed someone had put a curse on it.

Yes, exactly.
