I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

The woman in the photo wore a large white hat and a long white dress. She was smiling. The man beside her was dressed in a dark suit. His stern look and tight lips were in contrast to her dazzling smile.

I'd use "contrasted with" instead of "were in contrast to".
