I am helping a friend with english and I need to know when to use the word "them" and "they". Please help, I cannot find any resourses.
Thank you
"They" is a nominative pronoun (third person, plural); "them" is an objective pronoun (third person, plural).
"They is used as the subject of a sentence or clause; "them" is used as the object of a verb or preposition.
They are going to the park. (sentence subject)
The people vote for the candidate that they respect the most. (clause subject)
My parents gave a basket of food to them. (prepositional object)
I gave them my honest opinion. (indirect object of the verb)
We saw them at the theater. (direct object of the verb)
