Hello all,
Can I ask which of the following is better?

A) There are several consequences of unemployment. They range from those that affect the individual and his or her family to those that have an impact on the economy as a whole.

B) There are several consequences of unemployment, ranging from those that affect the individual and his or her family to those that have an impact on the economy as a whole.

They are equally good.

They are both acceptable. It's mostly a matter of stylistic preference.

Generally it's a better practice to keep your sentences shorter when you can, so I suppose A) is slightly preferable for that reason alone.

However, there's nothing wrong with B). I tend to write longer sentences myself, so I personally prefer it.
