There is a kid who is quite tall and he is just five at the moment.

1) The height that kid has, should have been acquired when he was eight.

2) He is taller than other kids. He should have been this tall when he was eight.

3) He is quite tall. He should attain this height when he is eight.

4) He is quite tall. He should have attained this height when he is eight.

5) This much height should be reached when a kid is at least eight.

Please check my sentences.

I'm reminded of one of my son's friends in kindergarten. He was, at age five, a full head shorter than... the teacher!

None of your sentences is natural, especially as we don't normally use 'should' when talking of children's height.

We might say something like "He's very tall for his age. He's as tall as an average eight-year-old"

Thanks for your reply and help.

If we have have to say that this child should have reached this height when he is eight then what to say? (I am confused about my construction here.)

He is taller than other kids. He should have been this tall when he was eight. Could you please correct this one?

Here's one way to say that, with should: He's taller than other kids his age. He shouldn't really be this tall till he's eight!

More simply: He's already as tall as most eight-year-olds.

In response to your OP, 1,2,4 just don't make sense since he is not 8 yet.

Is there a law in your country that states what height children must be at certain ages?

No but that kid was very tall. He will get seven feet tall when he grows up.

That's still no reason to say that he 'should have reached; a certain height at any particular age.

I am not saying that. It is a good thing that that kid has a good height. But I said it in surprise. I couldn't believe that that kid was only five but when he spoke it was clear that he wasn't as old as he looked.

I am not saying that.

But you did say that, in every single one of your original examples:

1) The height that kid has, should have been acquired when he was eight.

2) He is taller than other kids. He should have been this tall when he was eight.

3) He is quite tall. He should attain this height when he is eight.

4) He is quite tall. He should have attained this height when he is eight.

5) This much height should be reached when a kid is at least eight.

So how could I have said it in a positive way? Could you please tell me? If we wanna say this but not in a negative way but in a surprised way (I hope "surprised way" is correct here) then what can we say?
