This may be due to the previous POST attempt failing because of system instability or if the power button was held in to force the system off.

If the system failed to POST after you made changes to UEFI settings, you may wish to revert to stable settings to prevent POST failure.
---
1. Does this failing mean (a) or (b)?

a. This may be due to the previous POST attempt('s) failing ....

b. This may be due to the previous POST attempt which failed (=failing) ....

2. Interestingly, it uses failure in "to prevent POST failure" (rather than "to prevent POST failing")

What do you think?

The most recent post attempt did not succeed, and that caused other problems. (The first one.)

With regard to POST failure, I think that refers to the POST function no longer working, so that would apply to all attempts until stable settings are restored.
