Hi! What is the exact meaning of the words "through-put charges" in the following passage? It is from a political telegram, dating back to 1953,with a special shortened style. ( I will edit the text, if disordered, after submitting it). I am not sure about the exact meaning of it.
We have always thoughtthat British prefer, as we do, that any future commercial arrangement would beset up so that international company would buy crude and pay a “through-put”charge for products.

Products of crude (oil) would be things like gasoline and diesel fuel. Rather than having commercial arrangements to buy the finished product at a set price, the arrangement would be for the company (who wants the finished products) to buy the crude oil and then pay a processing fee for running it through the refinery to obtain the products.

It appears to be a term that's specific to the industries being discussed. I think you should retain it as is, adding a parenthetical explanation if necessary.
