You can have your (driver's) license taken away, especially when you are on parole.

It is a British term. It is a curious anomaly - you are still a prisoner in that you have not yet served out your sentence, but you are permitted to live within the community providing you follow set rules. See here: Early release from prison - serving your sentence in the community
