2-The switch is here to turn off the machine.

No. For the first one, try:
  • We are running out of time to save them.

Or:
  • Time is running out for any chance to save them.

For the second one, try:
  • Here is the switch for turning off the machine.

Or:
  • The switch for turning off the machine is here.
