Hi,

What does the verb "Compromise" mean here?


NOte that instruments must not espond to the reserved code. To do so would compromise any future use of this code.

Would anyone please tell me what dos convey the second phrase?

compromise - definition of compromise by the Free Online Dictionary, Thesaurus and Encyclopedia. - look at definition 1a of the transitive verb. See my amendments to your post above.

Since I don't understand the context, I can't really say what the whole sentence means. It sounds like it's something to do with computers perhaps. The basic meaning is that if this code has a specific undesirable effect, it will negatively affect the future use of the code.
