Hello,

"In summary, Akşener's new party certainly has the potential to earn a place in Turkish politics and be taken into consideration in the power game. But to do think she should take additional steps to widen the party’s political spectrum."

I can't make much sense of the part "to do think". The way it's written sounds to me something like "But we are supposed to think she should take additional steps to widen the party’s political spectrum". This is new to me. Is it a correct utterance in English?

No, it's an error. You could replace "to do" with "some" to get a meaningful and correct sentence but there's no way to know whether it would convey the author's intent.

But to do so, I think she should take additional steps to widen the party’s political spectrum."
I suspect that's what the author intended.

News on the web is written at speed and spellchecks don't catch things like that. If you're sure it's wrong and can give a good reason why, you're probably correct. They're trying to get articles up minutes after an event, so mistakes get through.
