I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

To get rid of her in-laws, who had come on a visit on that afternoon, Maria told them she had a terrible stomach pain and a diarrhoea.

To get rid of her in-laws, who had come [STRIKE]on[/STRIKE] for a visit [STRIKE]on[/STRIKE] that afternoon, Maria told them she had [STRIKE]a[/STRIKE] terrible stomach pain and [STRIKE]a[/STRIKE] diarrhoea.

See above. I'm not sure how clear it is on screen, but I have deleted both indefinite articles from the second half.
