In addition to learning more about human resourses and accounting she's also found herself in a new leadership position.

The above sentence was online.Now why does it have "to learning"? I don't understand why there is "ing" with learn.


I would write it like "in addition to learn more about......"

Please help. Thank you

the 'to' belongs with 'in addition' not with what follows.

"in addition to" + something (noun/noun phrase/gerund phrase)

"learning" here is a gerund and is part of the phrase -

"learning more about human resources"

A gerund is a verb + ing that is used like a noun.
