When we got to the picnic site, the sun was well up and we were starving. Even though it’s open to the bush, Nwanetsi is one of the places you can safely get out of your car. It’s forbidden everywhere else, unless you want to make things easy for the lions.

Does "To make things easy for the lions"mean to be or being a sitting duck because no security measures being taken into consideration?

Yes, getting out of the vehicle everywhere but Nwatnetsi is forbidden. If you choose to get out of your vehicle at other places, you are making the lions' lives very easy. The lions won't exactly have to hunt for their food. They'll just eat you!
