Hello every one,
If someone says"pity pooled my throat", can we change it to"pity filled my throat"?
I can understand the meaning but I want to know if the first one is synonym with the second one?
Thanks

The first one makes no sense to me.

Thank you bhaisahab. But I read it in a book.
The girl heard some pitiful things about his father then she said" Pity pooled in my throat.Dad! I drank more tea. I swallowed and coughed."
Her Father was send to a camp during his childhood, and now she feels pity for him while her grandmother is talking about that.
I think it's a literal way of expressing feeling and the writer means"pity filled my throat" as if pity was a lump in her throat and she was to cry. Or simply she means pity filled her. she was filled with pity.

"Pooled in my throat" is not the same as "pooled my throat" which is what you wrote in post #1. Yes, you can say "filled my throat" instead.

Oh,yes. You are right. It was a mistake.
Thank you so much for your answer.:)
