"to the north" vs "at the north"

Is any of these sentences ok?

"Montreal is to the north of Toronto."

"Montreal is at the north of Toronto."

Are either[Is any] of these sentences ok?

"Montreal is to the north of Toronto." Okay, but is it really? I'd have to check a map.

"Montreal is at the north of Toronto." Nope, this one doesn't work, JC.

Why don't you just say

"X is north of Y"
