[Vocabulary] to unclose the lock

Doesn't it sound somewhat awkward "to unclose the lock"?

Doesn't it sound somewhat awkward "to unclose the lock"?

It's not just awkward and unnatural, it's incorrect. We "open the lock" or "unlock the lock", although the second is a bit clunky too. If there is a lock on something, we usually say "to unlock + object".

I unlocked the door.
He unlocked the treasure chest.
They unlocked the window.
