Please provide some examples of transitional phrases. (Perhaps I know it as something else.)

Hi,

Here is a list of helpful transitional words and phrases:

TO ADD, TO SHOW SEQUENCE:
also, and, then, besides, equally important, finally, first, further, furthermore, in addition, in the first place, last, moreover, next, second

TO COMPARE:
in the same way, likewise, similarly

To CONTRAST:
although, and yet, but, but at the same time, despite, even so, even though, however, in contrast, in spite of, nevertheless, on the contrary, on the other hand, regardless, still, though, yet

TO GIVE EXAMPLES and INTENSIFY:
after all, an illustration of, for example, for instance, indeed, in fact, specifically, to illustrate

To REPEAT, SUMMARIZE, or CONCLUDE:
all in all, altogether, in brief, in conclusion, in other words, in particular, in short, in simpler terms, in summary, on the whole, therefore

TO SHOW CAUSE or EFFECT
accordingly, as a result, because, consequently, for this purpose, hence, otherwise, therefore, thus

There are many others, but I am not even sure if that is what you are looking for. Let me know.

Iza

Thanks, Izabella! Now I know what the poster was talking about.

That's quite a list. (I think I use "indeed" a lot.)

:D
