Hello,

Are both form correct:
tons or tonnes
transhipment or transshipment?

If so are there any preferences for usage more often particular form or that is the British/American case?

thanks

"Transshipment" is correct. A "ton" is an imperial unit of weight measurement, equivalent to 20 cwts (hundredweights). A "tonne" is a metric unit, equivalent to 1,000 kilogrammes

ton = imperial measurement
tonne refers to a metric ton (1000kg).

Ton is also used to refer to a unit of volumehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volume or a unit of energy.

It is also slang and can be used as so;

"I have a ton of work to do"
"That's a ton of money"
