Is this right:
- Mom scolded me A LOT when... (may I use scold with "a lot", or do I have to say: Scolded me BADLY) ?

- This kind of people doesn't appeal to me. (I always have problems when using "kind". THESE KINDS / THIS KIND ? of PEOPLE ARE/IS?)

One could use the "a lot" form, informally. It leaves it unclear, however, whether that means "often" or "severely".

Normally, that would be "this kind of person" or "these kinds of people". The first means that an individual represents a certain type.
